BABES Get Very Positive Reception at the Gathering of Nations Pow Wow in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The Gathering of Nations (GON) is a grand 3-day Native American event held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, featuring pageantry, dance, singing, cultural exchange and special shopping experiences involving artists, crafters and traders from around the world.

BABES was fortunate to secure a vendor booth, which was well visited by several hundred GON attendees. The BABES booth was staffed by Rev. Lottie, Deborah Smith and Al Rice. During the event, the BABES team was able to present the BABES program, hand out materials and provide information for BABES advocacy, future contact and follow up.

Looking for BABES Family and Advocates in Europe

Elizabeth Scerri, Primary Prevention Executive and BABES presenter in Malta, Europe shared the following testimonial about BABES:

“I believe in B.A.B.E.S programme and work very hard in my capacity that every kid has the opportunity to attend the programme in Malta. Sometimes I wonder if in Europe it is active? It will be beautiful opportunity that if you have any contact, please pass to me or if you think I can be of any service to other European country will be an honour to me to promote the B.A.B.E.S.”

Renaissance gets involved

Students at Renaissance High School are currently training to be mentors for the BABES program.

In the training sessions, the students learn the stories of the BABES storybook while using the puppet characters. While one presenter tells his or her story, the remaining trainees behave as a child of the age given to them.

“Living Skills in the Schools” In Delray Beach Introduces BABES to Southeast Florida

Living Skills in the Schools based out of Delray Beach is pleased to introduce the BABES curriculum to elementary schools throughout Palm Beach County.

With the fabulous presentations by Miss Gale and Miss Nancy, our prevention puppets have been making the rounds offering curriculum to early elementary and upper elementary schools.

Welcoming Our Newest BABES Family Members

New Jersey Godparent, Elizabeth McGlinn, held a training beginning March 10, 2016 in Totowa. Seven presenters were trained, including those pictured, who are preforming their first BABES presentation. The training was attended by Rev. Lottie Jones Hood, Yvonne Knox and Jan Lossing, from BABESWORLD Home, who shared in the joy of learning. Special thanks to our new presenter, Ms. Jennifer Carr, who developed a power point production from the training, which she has presented to the Wayne Alliance.

Sedqa Malta Offers BABES Program

Sedqa Malta is a government agency created 26th June 1994 that offers services related to prevention and treatment of substance abuse and gambling, visiting web site for further info www.fsws.gov.mt

Every year, Sedqa Agency, in collaboration with the government schools, offers the B.A.B.E.S programme for free of charge. This is a primary prevention programme for year 3 students (8 year old). The purpose of the B.A.B.E.S programme is to enable children to learn and practice life skills and make positive early decisions about alcohol and other drugs.

Renaissance students explore BABESWORLD

The war against drug abuse has been prevalent for quite some time, with inner city youth being the main targets for money hungry drug dealers. In an effort to combat substance abuse in young people, Beginning Awareness Basic Education Studies (BABESWORLD) was created. A few students from Renaissance High School took advantage of the opportunity to be a part of the program.

Spring Branch School District in Houston, TX Adopts BABES

Lee Anne Aluotto, Addictions Counselor at Spring Branch Integrated School District (ISD), was successful in advocating to introduce BABES within that school district. Accordingly, BABES World Home is in process of becoming a consulting provider to the school district. Once approved, BABES World Home will provide training to Spring Branch ISD for all 5 curricula within the BABES Lessons in Living Life Skills I: Substance Disorder Prevention program.
