This site explores decision making skills.
The concept of decision-making is important because the individual is face with many situations which decisions must be made. The ability to make appropriate and timely decisions greatly reduces the stress of day-to-day living. Persons with poor or unsatisfactory decision-making skills often use alcohol or other drugs to relieve the stress resulting from these inadequacies.
Everyone needs to recognize that they have made and will make many decisions in the future. They need to learn early to identify and use the alternative courses of action in problem situations. They should also be made aware that one of the decisions they will be making in the future will be whether or not to use alcohol or other drugs. They should also be able to distinguish the best possible course of action, whether or not it is the easier possible course of action.
