Greetings from my desk…high atop a mountain of paperwork. We at BABESWORLD have begun Stage III in the process of credentialing BABES to achieve its goal of becoming registered as an Evidence-Based Program listed on SAMHSA National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs (NREPP). We are following a plan, created by the Wayne State School of Social Work, which includes:
- Developing a logic model (theory of change)
- Revising our Program Materials
- Hiring a professional Evaluation Team
Like Donovan says “It’s as Easy as 1-2- 3”! While the first two steps involve a great deal of paperwork and a truck-load of erasers, the third step was easy. BABESWORLD was blessed to find an Evaluation Team, SPEC Associates (Social Program Evaluators and Consultants, Inc.) led by Ms. Melanie Hwalek, PhD who will work with us to assemble the many pieces of this puzzle.
SPEC has been in business since 1980 (nearly as long as BABES) and is staffed by a team of highly qualified associates. Their mission statement is “to support the efforts of nonprofit organizations, governmental agencies, educational institutions and systems, and foundations to be more effective at helping people.” Sound just like what BABESWORLD needs for successful application to SAMHSA.
A reminder to presenters, please continue to submit data on the lessons you provide in this new school year. If you need additional copies of the questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Jan at 313-833- 3962 or info@babesworld.org or jan1221@comcast.net. Trust and believe, I will be at my desk.
