Debra R. Anderson was trained during the BABES Annual Family Reunion and Conference to become a Certified BABES Presenter. Obviously impacted by the training, she wrote the following giving us permission to share with you.
TO THE INVISIBLE ME
There was a time that I felt like no one saw me. I thought that I did not matter and no matter where I went no one could really see me.
I felt invisible. Then one day, as I walked alone on my way home from school, an angel of God appeared before me and said, “I see you. I love you and you mean the world to me.” It was then that I knew that only people with good hearts could see me. I knew within my heart and felt within my soul that I was no longer invisible because I knew that God understood me and saw me. I was no longer invisible.
After completing my three-day BABES training, it was reaffirmed to me that we all need each other to shine our light and use our light to help someone else light their light for a brighter world.
So let’s keep shining our light so we all can be visible because we all count in the scheme of the universe.
As caregivers, we must not forget and be sensitive to the fact that children and teens share some of these same feelings — too often feeling invisible. It is our charge to constantly remind them that their light is never dim — that they have a presence in life for they are the shining light that leads into our future.
